Areas of Work

My research in urban studies has spanned public policy and local politics to the role of international organisations in urban issues. I have written about service delivery and local governance, as well as how the international humanitarian sector can help to meet the needs of refugees in cities.  As an urban planner I am also interested in the rapid urbanisation of developing countries, and the proliferation of slums. This interest has led into research on how governments can better provide basic services to the inhabitants of these cities, and the financial and political constraints which they face.
